Welcome back to the Oppositelock Cool Wall! In this bi-weekly series, we take a look at five cars and vote for their position on the cool wall. This series mimics the now-defunct Top Gear Cool Wall.

The two SUV’s that got seriously uncool were the Lexus and the Infiniti. The rest were just uncool. But let be bring something up: THREE people actually thought the Infiniti was sub-zero. THREE!!! THREE!!! What is wrong with you rubes?

It’s uncool. Imagine picking up a non-gearhead in it. “Oh, you own a Ferrari?” “No, actually it’s an Acura” then you’d naturally have to defend the NSX saying Senna helped develop it. Then you get a blank stare and awkward silence. Uncool.

I think its cool personally, but the whole idea behind the cool wall is that non-car people think it’s cool too. Otherwise anything RWD and manual goes to the cool side. Turbos, V12s, and ITB’s go sub zero. Done.

its not cool because it is 1 of 3 (i think) which means that only the super rich can own them and never drive them. It is however very cool because the idea of a lmp road car.

I think you guys have seriously missed the point of the cool wall. Remember the yardstick Top Gear drew? Pull up to a date with Kristin Scott Thomas.

To put it into terms Americans know: Pulling up for a date with Emma Watson. She’s going to think your new NSX, P1, and 918 are ridiculous. She’s going to think your Nissan race car is ridiculous and ask why you’re in the middle of your McLaren.

The goal of the cool wall was effectively, the best car one could get without giving off the impression that one is really into cars. Pull up to a dinner with a Corvette, Ferrari, etc., people are not going to want to talk to you in fear of you droning one about your car. I think we all know that normal people hate car talk.

So I equate it as good, normal looking cars that are great to drive. Clearly, the better looking, the better. I’d move the S4, MR2, Porsches, all Range Rovers, etc. up. and any sort of ridiculous or overly aggressive cars down. Boot all the hypercars down. Boot the sti and corvette down (I own both. I can tell you firsthand, neither impress anyone except 17 year old boys) Boot down the Hellcat and Ferraris.

I know the prices have been going up in recent years, but I thought they were some of the most fun cars you could buy for the money. I don’t have much experience with them though, so this is all just hearsay from the internet.
